This week marked the start of the boys Spring tennis season.  With a lot of new faces, as well as some returning veterans, the Tiger Tennis squad is looking to keep their momentum rolling this upcoming season.

The boys look to start off hot, with their season opener taking place in Centralia.  Tiger Tennis is also looking ahead to the Edwardsville High Tennis Invite, a two day tournament with some of the best competition in the state.

The tennis squad has talent from top to bottom, featuring State Qualifiers Keegan Weber and Michael Cagle, as well as the doubles duo of Brisdon and his brother Brady Quaglia. The key piece of the puzzle however, is the ever growing pool of the up and coming Junior Varsity and Varsity level players, coupled with the new, fresh-faced, hungry group of incoming freshman and sophmores.

Herrin has a wide variety of opponents throughout their schedule.  Fairfield, Flora, and Marion all provide decent competition, however, a different team will provide the team with one of their toughest challenges of the season.

For many seasons both Herrin and Carbondale have competed against each other in a match that is almost certainly circled on the calendar by the coaches each season.  This past season, the Herrin boys were finally able to put away one of their biggest rivals, adding a much deserved and hard fought win to their prestigious resume.

The roster is filled with talent from the number one spot all the way to number twenty.  The lineup features returning players like Micheal Cagle, Keegan Weber, Cameron Christ, Brady and Brisdon Quaglia,  Luke Smith, and Brennan Cox.

There is also a plethora of skill and potential from the Junior Varsity side of the team, with players like Coleman Bailie, Leyten Earl, Maddox Billingsley, Jonah Garlick, and Jarret Coleman all putting up a fight for a spot on the varsity lineup.

With the new freshman and sophmores entering the world of Herrin Tennis this season, names like Cooper Christ, Luke McCluskie, Gabe Patterson, and Vince Champion all help to provide a look into the bright future of the tennis team.  With this new wave of talent, the Herrin tennis program will be a top level contender for many seasons to come.

With the immense talent from top to bottom, good work ethic, and the drive to win, the Tiger boys team looks to have a repeat year, adding to their momentum and making a push to becoming the best tennis team in the entire state.
