Concealer Controversy

Article, Faith Forum, Writer

We all know the struggle of trying to find that perfect shade of concealer.  A shade too light will make you feel like a raccoon, and a line can be embarrassing.  Recently make up critics are going crazy over a product made by Tarte.

The concealer Shape Tape by Tarte cosmetics set a few people off when it was released.  The concealer comes in a total of  15 shades. So whats the issue?  Only TWO of the shades have a dark pigment the rest are very light.  Tarte has given a large variety of shades to some people and little to no variety for others.  How is that fair?  Recently I put shape tape to the test to see if its really worth all the controversy or if just buying a dupe in that IS in your shade is your best bet.

Firstly I would like to say HOLY COVERAGE!!!!!  The coverage of this product is insane! I’m not gonna lie it could cover a tattoo. This product honestly is heavy though andif you have oily skin it’s probably not for you.  After using it I almost felt a weight being lifted when I removed it.  I do not wear makeup most days which could play a roll in how heavy I feel it really is.  Given most concealers that have good coverage are more weighted and thick it could feel lighter but it could be worse.  After doing my research though, I quickly found out I wasn’t the only one.  If you are looking for insane coverage and don’t mind a heavy makeup Shape Tape is the one for you.  Lets not forget though that it doesn’t have a shade for everyone, and a NYX concealer has wonderful coverage too for less than half the price (and they have a variety for all shades of skin).

So overall I would give the product a 6 out of 10.  Don’t  get me wrong I love Tarte but would appreciate more shades as well.
