On October 25, the flag and dance teams went to Bloomington for their first competition of the season, focusing on solos, duos, and trios. Each performer showcased their skills, creating an exhilarating atmosphere.
The pressure to perform at the competition is high, particularly because securing first place would allow the performer to advance to state. The team members showed great support for one another throughout the stressful venture, highlighting their camaraderie and dedication.
The girls excelled in various categories during the competition, showcasing their hard work and dedication. All of the senior girls achieved qualifying scores, a testament to their talent and perseverance, but only one managed to secure an automatic entry to the state finals, a coveted achievement.
Savannah Lacy, who placed first in the flag category, felt an overwhelming sense of pride and joy. According to her, it felt incredible to have such success in her final year at Start the Beat, especially after experiencing challenges and not performing as well in previous years.
This victory not only marked a personal triumph for Savannah but also highlighted the growth and resilience that she and her teammates had developed throughout their time in the program.
Joanna Mora states that she is happy about how everything turned out in her final year at this competition and that she was happy to see both dance and flag come together to support each other on the dance floor
Even though the competition season has just started, all the girls are looking forward to finding out what other competitions they will face and how they can improve their performance. This first competition provided them with an opportunity to get a glimpse of other teams.
