The holiday season is known for giving, and this year the FBLA chapter made sure to do its part. Recently, members volunteered with the Salvation Army to participate in their annual bell-ringing campaign outside both Walmart and Kroger. The familiar sound of the bell served as a reminder to shoppers that even a small donation can make a big difference, and for FBLA, it was a chance to give back, build leadership skills, and connect with the community.

The project was organized with help from FBLA advisor Mrs. Webb, who worked with the Salvation Army to schedule student volunteers. Members signed up for shifts throughout the week, bundling up against the cold while greeting shoppers with smiles, holiday cheer, and plenty of enthusiasm. The group has participated in this service project before, but this year’s turnout was especially strong, with many students stepping up to help. Mrs. Webb stated, “Doing this brought great joy for us to help those in need for the holiday season.”
Throughout the event, FBLA students took their roles seriously. Whether stationed outside Walmart or Kroger, they welcomed every passerby with kindness, understanding that their attitude could encourage someone to donate. Many members noted how rewarding it felt to watch families, children, and even busy shoppers pause to give what they could. Every drop in the red kettle was a reminder that generosity still thrives in the community. Social media played a part in promoting the project as well. The FBLA Instagram page highlighted participants, shared photos from the event, and encouraged others to get involved. This helped spotlight the club’s dedication to service while also celebrating the students who donated their time.

For many volunteers, this wasn’t just another school activity; it was a meaningful opportunity to brighten someone else’s holiday season. Maxed Piper explained, “ Even though it was cold out, I enjoyed every moment of it.” By the end of the project, FBLA members walked away with far more than cold hands. They gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of service, teamwork, and leadership, the very values that FBLA strives to build. Their participation not only supported the Salvation Army’s mission but also strengthened the connection between local students and the community they proudly represent.
As the holidays approach, FBLA’s bell-ringing effort stands as a reminder that even small actions can create big impacts. Through their time and dedication, these students helped ensure that the season shines a little brighter for everyone.
