On January 5, the movie Night Swim was released. Before watching the movie, we decided to look at the reviews, which seemed to have quite an interesting outlook on rotten tomatoes with a rating of 22% rotten. This movie showed its first trailer as early as November 23, 2023,  which shows that Universal Studios dedicated its time, heart and soul to this movie.

The movie is about a fictional former baseball player named Ray Waller who was forced into early retirement by a degenerative illness. He moved into a new house with his wife and two children. He hoped that the backyard swimming pool would be fun for the kids and provide physical therapy for himself. However, a dark secret from the home’s past soon unleashes a malevolent force that drags the family into the depths of inescapable terror. Reading the summary provided by Universal Studios got us extremely excited and ready to see this movie.

Recently, there have not been many movies that seem to have a mind-boggling effect on them,  the most recent one being Get Out! This type of anxiety-inducing horror has been a fan favorite for most and is hard to come by. This movie would deal with a lot of emotion, leaving viewers not knowing what will happen next and making them question the reason behind why any of the events are happening.

Just searching for Night Swim makes this movie seem extremely thrilling. Well, how was it?

At only about 10 minutes in, the movie was already extremely interesting. It had us on the edge of our seats, with the beginning showing that the main character already had a huge fear of pools, making for the rest of the movie to unfold. After finishing the movie, We genuinely loved it. It had us very nervous throughout the film, anticipating any sort of jumpcare. We recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys horror movies and wants to try something new. The ending was extremely unexpected and we think anyone interested should discover what is underneath the surface.
