The boys bowling team has already made the latest news here at HHS. It seems that everyone has been talking about them, but why is that?
The boys bowling season officially kicked off on November 8th, at a home match versus Eldorado. Varsity and Junior Varsity both got their respective wins. Varsity was led by Nick Hubbard (11) with a 662, and Junior Varsity was led by Keegan Vorhes (12) with a 615.
Their next tournament was on November 11th, at Collinsville Kahok Invitational. 32 teams were entered and the Tigers came out in 5th place. This was a huge win for the Tigers, considering how many people were actually there. The boys were led by Payton Martin (11), who finished 7th individually after six intense games.
Their latest tournament was on November 19th, at Salem Wildcat Invitational. The boys, as a team, finished in 2nd place. Junior Varsity finished 7th in the Varsity division. Varsity player, Payton Martin, placed 3rd individually and Junior Varsity, Tuner Fish (11), placed 4th individually.
Many players this year are very excited for this season. They have had the most players this year than almost any other. When Hubbard was asked about his plans for this season, he mentioned making it to state and bettering his score. Hubbard has been playing for many years, and has tried going to state for a while. With high hopes, he plans to go this year. High school is not the only place he is bowling– Hubbard hopes to take his skills to the next level and play for a university. Vorhes also stated that he wanted to go somewhere with bowling; but whether it is just a hobby or taking it professionally, he is going some place with it.
Since the team has almost more than doubled in size this year, many more wins are expected to be had this bowling season.
