The Herrin Tiger Girls Golf Team swung back into action with three matches this week. The first being against Carterville at The Pine Lakes Golf Course, on Monday Sept. 23. Herrin was able to score 224 to the Lion’s 204, losing the week opener. For explanation, it was unseasonably cool, and the weather affected the girls as they finished the day with a tough loss.
Even after a tough loss, the girls were able to come back on Tuesday, Sept. 24 for the River to River Tournament at Hickory Ridge in Carbondale. A much warmer day than the previous, the girls were able to use the sunshine to their advantage; shooting a 211 as a team. Carbondale was able to score 214, narrowly losing to Herrin.
Following the tough win, the Tigers took to the greens against Benton at Pine Lakes in Herrin on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Shooting 213, the team was able to pull out ahead against Benton and take the victory as Benton ended with a total of 221. The Girls have 2 matches next week, weather permitting, before making their way to regionals at the beginning of October.
