HHS to present You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown

Yes, it’s that time of the year again. It is time for the musical to begin! This year Jené Simmons, the director of the musical and chorus director, chose to present You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown as the next musical. Auditions were held on August 28th and 29th.

On the 28th, the people who wished to try out came in to the chorus room and sang a song. In addition to that, Simmons preferred to have auditionees sing a song from the show, but she did accept other musical pieces. If a student was unsure of what to sing, there was sheet music from the musical right outside the chorus room. After the attendant had sung, he or she was able to leave. The participant came back for the second part of the audition on the 29th. On this day, the actors were asked to read from a script for a scene designated to them. Although it was asked of the student to stay as long as possible, they were able to leave earlier if necessary. In this case, they needed to talk to one of the adults involved in the audition to tryout early.

Before the students audition, they were required to fill out a paper that asks for information: school schedule, times available, phone number, email address, etc. Those who were interested in joining the tech crew to help backstage were also required to fill this paper out. The paper was right by the door in the chorus room, along with the schedule for rehearsals as of right now.

The musical is a good after-school activity to join if you enjoy acting/singing/dancing, like to help direct or set up props, want to participate in a fun activity, or want to be in an environment where everyone fits in and has a good time. This group is truly a lot of fun. If you are interested, be sure to join this wonderful cast/crew waiting to put on an amazing show!
