What began more than ten years ago as a simple Family Fun Day has grown into one of Southern Illinois’ most anticipated community events. This year, Hope Fest 2025 was filled with two full days of activities, food, music, and fellowship, all while raising vital support for the Herrin House of Hope.
The festival ran from Saturday, September 6, to Sunday, September 7, at Community of Faith Church in Marion. The event welcomed guests rain or shine, moving activities inside if necessary.

At the center of the event is John Steve, Executive Director of the Herrin House of Hope and one of the founders of Family Fun Day. Steve has watched the event grow from a modest gathering into a regional tradition. John Steves stated, “ When you walk around Hope Fest, all you will see is people smiling, laughing, and praying for each other.
According to Steve, the expansion of Hope Fest, including the launch of the Hope Fest Market with up to 100 vendors, reflects the community’s dedication to caring for neighbors in need.

The weekend kicked off with the 2nd Annual Hope Fest 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run. Runner Josh Mail said, “ I really enjoyed running for Hope Fest, and I have made many good memories running”.
All day long, the Hope Fest Market and Main Stage featured local vendors, live music, and family-friendly performances. Attendees also enjoyed the Children’s Fun Zone, packed with inflatables and games, plus an expanded Food Court with everything from BBQ to funnel cakes.
Special attractions included tethered balloon rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, and the always-popular silent auction.
Sunday began with an Opening Ceremony at 12:30 PM, marking Herrin House of Hope’s 13th anniversary. Local leaders, including Mayor Steve Frattini, were there as well.
The afternoon also featured the 5th Annual Auto Show & Biker Zone, showcasing classic cars, motorcycles, and custom rides.
With all of the hecticness that this weekend can bring, the organizers are already looking forward to next year. If you did not come to Hope Fest this year, you should mark it on your calendars and be involved with this amazing event.
