Every year Coca-Cola re-releases the wildly popular Winter Spiced Cranberry flavor for Sprite. The flavor becomes available starting in late October until the end of December and has done so since 2013.
The flavor then gained a lot of popularity and attention in 2017 when an animated ad featuring Lebron James debuted to advertise the drink. The ad also had a lot of memes made mainly surrounding Lebron’s one line, “Wanna Sprite Cranberry”. Coca-Cola would continue to re-use the same ad every year until 2020, as earlier that same year Lebron James ended his contract with Coca-Cola so that he could begin advertising for Pepsi.
In a poll with nearly two-hundred responses, seventy-three percent of respondents said they have drunk sprite cranberry before. Out of the seventy-three percent that have drunk it before, only nine percent of those respondents said they did not like the flavor. From the respondents that have drunk Sprite Cranberry, fifty-three percent said they’d rather drink Sprite Cranberry over regular Sprite. Similarly, fifty-one percent said they’d rather drink Sprite Cranberry when it is available over any other soda. Although most respondents said Sprite Cranberry was their winter drink of choice, many people said they preferred hot chocolate, and a few people also said they prefer the Winter Edition Red Bull that is available under a similar time period to Sprite Cranberry.
As interesting as the flavor’s history and the general opinion surrounding it is, they are unimportant when it comes to the actual taste of the soda. So, how good is the flavor? Not only is the flavor incredible, it’s also way better than the original Sprite flavor. Sprite Crannbery’s flavor is simple yet still enjoyable, as it tastes like what you would expect from a Christmas flavored soda. It’s a refreshing soda that can be enjoyed throughout the Christmas season. Whenever Sprite cranberry is available, it is hard to find a soda I would choose to drink over this one. Overall, due to Sprite Cranberry’s addictive and refreshing flavor, I would have to give it a 9/10. Sprite Cranberry can be found in any store that sells soda until the end of December when stores stop getting new supply.
