HHS’ very own CTE teacher, Mrs. Webb, has earned the state title of Secondary Business Educator of the Year, given to her by the Illinois Business Educators Association. She was nominated by her peers in the organization due to her excellent representation of business teachers.
“This award was an accumulation of the efforts I’ve put into maintaining my technology teaching skills through professional development and thinking of new and fun ways for FBLA to be not only strong community service advocates but also learn useful professional skills to serve them in life.”
Having won Teacher of the Year for the southern Illinois region in April, Mrs. Webb was honored to be chosen once again. “It means a great deal to me that my peers, one of which nominated me for this award, appreciate and respect the work I do at Herrin High School.”
Alongside that, she also has a history of exceptional teaching and charitable work at HHS. She’s been teaching for sixteen and a half years now and has spent many of these years running Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and using it to promote fundraising for the small businesses of Herrin, encourage students to be leaders, and provide a large, welcoming community for the students of HHS, while also being a teacher and running the girls golf team as well as the HHS esports team.
Mrs. Webb is now using this award to push herself further in her career. “It inspires me to keep pushing and trying to come up with new and innovative ideas.”
