If interested in music and have musical talent come take a look at the music department! Music makes up most of HHS with fantastic performances from both the Band and the Chorus. The music department is taught by Mr. Lewis and Mrs. Simmons.

Mr.Lewis is in charge of the Band. During the beginning of the year, students prepare to march onto football fields and perform. The band works all year with concerts, basketball games, and even contests!

Mrs. Simmons teaches Chorus and Music appreciation, Chorus helps students develop a sense of music appreciation by doing vocal warmups to warm up their voices. The chorus has performances all year long performing at concerts competitions and even singing the national anthem at basketball games! The chorus has an early bird chorus which means that students will come into school before 1st hour for about 45 minutes. Chorus is an amazing thing to be a part of if you have musical talent!

Music theory teaches experienced music students to study all major and minor scales.

Music appreciation involves listening to music and studying the rhythms and the composers of each song. It involves sharing each student’s thoughts on each piece of music and taking notes on each lyrical piece.

If you are interested in playing an instrument, singing, or even just talking about music be sure to sign up! Music has a huge influence on people throughout the world and even in HHS.
