Another exciting season is beginning to unfold for the Herrin-Carterville boys soccer team. The co-op team hosted Massac in their season home opener.

Even with a tough start to the season, Michael Cagle (12) explained that the young and growing team is looking very promising for the future. Cagle, who has been playing soccer for fourteen years, stated that the team has quite a bit to work on over the next few months, but expects that the team will significantly improve throughout the rest of the season.

Nathan Abba, also a senior athlete at Herrin High, added similar remarks about the team, saying, “We are rebuilding, and overall, there is exciting potential for the rest of the season as well as for years to come.”

We also spoke to freshman player Kamden Walker, who said he is excited to continue representing Herrin in the sport, and looks forward to seeing improvements to the team as time progresses. He noted that, “if we can work on teamwork and communication, we will be a better team.”

The co-op team will be out again this week as they face off against Anna Jonesboro on Thursday. If you’re free, come support our Tiger soccer players.
