Herrin High Student Body Loves Fall Break

Tiger Tea Tuesday #1

A couple weeks ago, Herrin High School students had the opportunity to take a break during this hectic year. 2021 is the first year that the district has included a fall break, and it has received very positive feedback. Out of the HHS students that participated in a fall break survey, 94% stated that they want the break to be a permanent part of the schedule. This break was a good reward for the hard-working students at Herrin High.

When reading about the students’ favorite parts of fall break, I could see a pattern. Almost every answer talked about being stress free and getting to catch up on sleep. Think about your break. Did you get to relax your mind? I know the journalists at the high school needed that break, so I’m sure you did too. In the survey, one student said they got in a “better place mentally.” School can become repetitive and draining so getting this time to reboot was much needed. “I’ve been happy,” said another student. Everyone got a chance to cool down.

I hope everyone had time to reset. Here’s to hoping this break stays in the school schedule! Everyone deserves a break!
