One Dra-ma-zing Club
Drama Club has begun! After the odd past year, Mrs. Pullum and Ms. Wilson are planning on being back on stage with this year’s spring play. At the end of the first Drama Club meeting on August 30th, the Seniors convinced the two sponsors to announce what show they’ll be doing. “A Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood” is a fun, spunky, and hilarious comedy that was performed 15 years ago by HHS Drama Club and will be performed again this school year! It is a fantastical retelling of Robin Hood, filled with everything from damsels obsessed with skin conditions to a bowling town sheriff.
The Drama Club is still open to join! Contact Mrs. Pullum or Ms. Wilson for more information. The next meeting will be Monday, September 27th. From fun improv games to snacks, Drama Club is the best place to let your silliness show. Senior Collier Hahn said they joined Drama Club because they “watched most of the drama club plays, and they looked like a lot of fun.” Hahn explained how they “wanted to be a part of a show.” Whether you want to help out backstage with costumes and props, help paint and create the set, or perform on stage for the audience, there’s a place for everyone in this club.
With last year’s precautions, the annual “Drama Daze” at SIU was canceled; however, the group hopes to attend this year. Hosted by the SIU Musical Theatre BFA, the day is packed with different theatre activities. With all of the rotations throughout the day, the students learn many things such as costume making, sword-fighting, dancing, playwriting, set-designing, and of course acting!
If you’ve been bitten by the theatre bug, consider joining the Drama Club today!
