The student section goes crazy after looking at the scoreboard.

Pack up your tiger pride and get ready to join Herrin High School’s Pep Club this school year! From Friday night Football games to intense volleyball matches, the Pep Club is there to support all of the student athletes of HHS. With an incredibly large turnout at the first official meeting, this year is looking to be full of support and school spirit.

After noticing the presence of other pep clubs in our surrounding schools, Coach Roberts created Pep Club to boost school spirit and support the different sports teams at the school. The club mostly helps in choosing the themes for the football and basketball games, but it also helps in spreading tiger pride all throughout the school. The club members are expected to attend as many sporting events as possible. This includes all sports except Golf, in which cheering is not favored. “The goal of this club is to give students something they can get behind and get involved in,” says Roberts. “As the Girls Basketball coach, I would really enjoy seeing more students showing up to the games and supporting the players.”

“We want to make sure that the club is following through with all sporting events. The students need to be excellent people, represent Herrin in a positive way, and cheer on others,” Coach Roberts replied when asked about the expectations of the club and its members.

If you think you would be interested in showing off your tiger pride and representing Herrin High School in other towns, this may be the club for you! Be sure to stay tuned to find out about upcoming opportunities to support your fellow student athletes. The first home Football game will be held on Friday, September 20 @ 7 P.M. at the football field. Dress up in your best attire according to the theme and be ready to cheer on the Tigers!
