On Sunday, September 8th, the Herrin High School Band performed at the Herrin City Park for the Herrin House of Hope Family Fun Day. This fundraiser is a way to help the disadvantaged by hosting a day full of food, games, and lots of fun!

At this event, the band members played “The Star Spangled Banner” as everyone who attended stood up and faced the flag honoring those who have fought for us. However, this wasn’t the only song the band was able to play. They also played “Feel It Still,” “Let It Go,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and “High Hopes.” One of these songs, “High Hopes,” is new to the Band’s repertoire. It was a great opportunity for the Marching Tigers to practice their new musical composition.

The Band Director, J.T. Jewis, says he is very appreciative of the students for being a part of this special occasion. He is also very pleased to be able to bring this intelligent group kids to perform in front of the community to show the citizens just how hard they work. On top of that, it is especially important that this certain event raised about 10,000 dollars for people in need. That is an exceptional amount of money raised within just one community. That is why it is always an honor for the Herrin High School Band to be able to participate in this remarkable phenomenon.
