Athlete of the month is awarded to one boy and one girl student at Herrin High that excels in their sport on and off the field.  The students chosen are not only great athletes but show hard work, determination and good sportsmanship.

Meet Charli Elliot, our female September athlete of the month, she is a junior at Herrin High and runs girls cross country.  When asked what makes it worth it for her “Seeing the success in the end and all the hard work I’ve put in. It’s nice knowing that I deserve it.”  Guess you can say Charlie goes the extra mile… literally!

Drew Ringel is our September male athlete of the month.  Drew is a senior member of the boys golf team. Drew spends a lot of time on the golf course and stays late to get in some extra practice. If there’s one thing Drew would like to say to his team it would be “practice hard, golf is hard.  Don’t get mad at yourself, golf is hard. Keep a level head.”

Athletes that work hard and set good examples are important assets to their team.  Good things always come from hard work, and just a little hard work can go along way on a team.
