Counting The Strikes
January 11, 2018
The boys’ and girls’ bowling team has come to a start but also to an end.
Tryouts for the boys were October 23 and 24. The girls’ tryouts were on November 13 and 14.
The team, both boys and girls, practiced together preparing themselves for the upcoming season. Coaches Barry Hubbard, Chelsea Walker, and Brad Carey have worked very hard to prepare the team for the complex season they were about to undergo.
The boys first tournament was on Saturday, November 11 where they placed 6th. The girls first tournament was on Saturday, November 25 where they placed 3rd.
At the beginning of the season, junior Jenna Wolff said that she was super excited for the upcoming season and was very anxious to see what they can accomplish.
For both boys and girls, the biggest competition this year was the O’Fallon Panthers and Salem Wildcats.
On December 16, the Herrin Tigers held the Herrin Invitational where both boys and girls received first place.
Congratulations to Kaytlon Richardson for placing first individually and Maddy Carey for placing third individually.
The boys regional was held in Herrin on January 13th where they placed second, advancing to Sectionals. Sectionals were held in Mount Vernon on January 20th where the team did not advance to state, but sophomore Ethan Zoller placed 8th, advancing.
Congratulations to Ethan for placing 48th in the state competition!
Girls Regional is on Saturday, February 3rd at Herrin Bowl; so come out and support your Herrin Tiger Bowlers!
