The French Club is a welcoming activity for those who are interested in the French language and culture. It is run by French teacher, Michaelann Stanley. The club is a great outlet for experiencing foreign food, music, and much more. New members can also expect to have great fun at the meetings and trips.

Members are given many opportunities for trips to various places throughout the school year. These trips include: the Fox Theatre, Mary’s restaurant, and Bandyville’s Pumpkin Patch. There is also a White Elephant Christmas party held every December, which always excites everyone along with filling them with Christmas spirit.

Many times, Mrs. Stanley will ask a couple of the exchange students at our school to give a presentation to the club during a meeting. Even if they’re not from a French-speaking country, they can still teach students many interesting facts, and they can tell everybody about their home country and their culture. This is a great way for students to learn more about cultures and customs that are very different from their own.

When asked about why she would encourage others to join, Makay Russell (11) said, “French Club gives you a look at more of the cultural aspect of French, while the class helps you learn the literal language.”

There are many reasons as to why students would want to join French Club, but as for Russell, she expressed, “I wanted to join French Club, because I really enjoy the language itself, and I just wanted that extra experience as part of my high school career.”

So, if you enjoy learning about foreign languages and different cultures, then French Club should most definitely be put into your consideration for next year!
