Always innovating, and always pushing to make our school a better environment, Mrs.Cornelius, the head of the Tiger Pride team, along with Mr. Tate, Mrs. Shelton, Mr. Matzenbacher, Mrs. Frankel, Mrs. Bonifield, Mrs. Goetting, Mr. Pappenfuss, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Priest, Mr. Mason, Mrs. Loucks, and Mr. Anderson.  All of these teachers brought their ideas together to benefit the school and make it a better place. After years of the team planning this idea, The Tiger Pride team finally witness Herrin High’s very first session of Tiger Time on November 7th.

Tiger Time will happen every first Wednesday of the month. The day runs on early dismissal schedule, meaning there will be time in between fourth hour and fifth hour for the students and teachers to have Tiger Time. During this time, students will learn to connect with their teacher while forming connections with other students. While most of the students will be doing social and emotional activities beginning to interact with each other, the upper class men will occasionally be talked to about their future plans and the colleges they can potentially get into.

What really inspired the team to start having Tiger Time was hearing about what other schools in the community were doing for their students. “We’ve been trying for years to put something like this in place” Mrs.Cornelius said while being interviewed. The intent is for all of the students to receive the same content although the way it is delivered by each teacher will be different. The next Tiger Time will be held on December 5th, hopefully the students will look forward to it.
