Double Trouble

Two Mascots And One Pep Rally

Article, Faith Borum, Editor

Watching our spirit squads perform, cheering along with the school song, watching the Mr. Homecoming candidates compete with hilarious talents, and seeing Mr. Johnson return were not the only exciting elements of the 17-18 Homecoming Pep Rally.

As students settled into their seats and the pep rally started, not one but two mascots entered the gym.

The mascots threw their hands up not expecting to see each other on the court. Preparation for two tigers to be revealed was not established. It was a welcome surprise for both students and mascots.  As the rally went on, the mascots competed for high fives and to see which could get the most waves from their fellow classmates.

The mascots also had a little fun “squaring up” with each other. The mascots added a little more excitement to the pep rally as they pretended to throw fists.  Of course, all of the arguing was out of fun and only meant to bring the energy into the gym. The two new mascots ended the day with a hug on the court.

Herrin High has been without a true mascot for quite some time. Bringing back the mascot was exciting alone; bringing back two mascots is AMAZING!
